Island Green Power is exploring the potential for developing Green Hill Solar Farm, with battery energy storage located on land to the west and south of Wellingborough and north of Northampton in Northamptonshire. Our plans are still at an early stage. We have carried out initial studies and assessments to identify areas of land that would potentially be suitable for a proposed solar farm with energy storage and cable route corridor connecting to Grendon Substation. As part of the non-statutory consultation, we would like to invite you to one of our collaborative ‘co:design’ workshops to contribute to the design and development of our early proposals. These workshops will help shape the project at this early stage and allow you to discuss in detail several key topics and aspects of our plans. The workshop will last for approximately three hours, with refreshments provided and will involve a series of short presentations by project team members followed by an interactive question-and-answer session and discussion of the proposed site. This session will provide the opportunity for us to present, and listen to your views on the following areas: The project, the site selection process to date, initial identification of local constraints and other local factors to consider Environmental considerations, such as ecology and biodiversity Potential environmental enhancement and mitigation measures Community benefits Future consultation and engagement planned for the project More about the project Green Hill Solar Farm would provide a maximum power output of 500 MW megawatts (MW), which will provide a substantial source of electricity for the country. The energy storage element of the scheme will help store surplus renewable generation and then deploy it to the national grid when it is needed. As the proposed generation capacity exceeds 50 MW, the project will be classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). The consenting regime for NSIPs comes under the Planning Act 2008 and requires us to apply for a Development Consent Order (DCO). Next steps Outcomes of the co:design workshop will be considered as part of the production of a revised ‘masterplan’, taking on board your input. As a key representative/organisation who may have an interest in our proposals, we would like to invite you/one representative of your organisation to attend a workshop on the following date:
